Description

Citrix is committed to ensuring compatibility with the latest VMware hypervisor releases. VMware released vSphere 6 in March 2015, vSphere 6 Update 1 in September 2015, vSphere 6 Update 2 in March 2016 and vSphere 6 Update 3 in March 2017. Basic compatibility testing has been performed between previously released Citrix products and vSphere 6, vSphere 6 Update 1, vSphere 6 update 2, vSphere 6 update 3. It is best practice to test your deployment before rolling out to production. This article outlines issues and solutions found during the compatibility testing with the following Citrix products:

Resolution

The following information outlines the issues and their solutions:

Issue 1

Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) imaging fails for Target Device on ESXi 6.0 with VM version 10 and 11.

Solution 1

ESXi VM Hardware version 10 and 11 include a SATA controller for CD/DVD Media by default. If the SATA and SCSI controller are present on the PVS Target Device, the target will fail to boot. PVS relies on the SCSI controller, SATA is the only one that can be removed. To resolve this issue, change the Virtual Device Node for the CD/DVD Media from SATA to IDE and remove the SATA controller. This must be performed prior to installing the operating system.

Complete the following steps:

  1. While creating a New Virtual Machine from vSphere Web Client, under Edit Settings -> Customize hardware -> Virtual Hardware, change the Virtual Device Node from SATA to IDE for CD/DVD Media.

  2. After selecting the corresponding IDE radio Button, the Remove option for New SATA Controller becomes active. Remove it by clicking the "X".

Note: If the Virtual Machine is already created, use the preceding steps to remove the controller by going to Edit Settings -> Virtual hardware in the vSphere Web Client.

Issue 2

Machine Creation Services (MCS) provisioning fails for GRID vGPU enabled VM Master Image.

Solution 2

This issue has been resolved in “Hotfixes Update 2 - For Delivery Controller 7.6”.
Refer to one of the following:

Issue 3

ESXi gets disconnected from vCenter when GPU pass through is enabled through DirectPath I/O for PCI Devices. This issue impacts HDX 3D Pro VDAs with vDedicated Graphics Acceleration (vDGA) enabled.

Solution 3

Refer to the following VMware Knowledge Base articles to resolve the issue.

Note: The VMware Knowledge Base articles listed apply to VMware vSphere versions 4.x and 5.x; the workaround may still be applicable for VMware vSphere 6.
