Description

Windows 8.1 VDA experience process spike for picashell.exe & dllhost.exe, the active thread is spending all the time working with uiautomationcore.dll (Microsoft DLL).

Resolution

Workaround

At this point the root cause for the issue has not been identified by Microsoft and hence not launching the task manager can be considered a workaround.
When Task Manager is accessed in ICA session, it is an expected behaviour to see high CPU in picashell.exe and dllhost.exe

Problem Cause

Citrix Technical Support engineers have found that this issue exists when task manager is launched. Picashell.exe is designed to capture certain UI events. When the task manager is launched, a large number of Winevents for UI are witnessed causing the CPU to spike.
