Description

  • After upgrading NetScaler from 10.1 build 119.7nc to 10.1 build 123.14 nc the following error is displayed:
    "SSL Error 4: An unclassified SSL network error occurred"

  • After fail over to secondary NetScaler, the users cannot connect to Web Interface through NetScaler Gateway and "SSL Error 4" message is displayed.

  • NetScaler Gateway virtual server which was set to Basic Mode after the upgrade changes back to SmartAccess Mode.

  • The secondary NetScaler will not recognize the licensing after the firmware upgrade from 119.7.nc to 123.14.nc .

Resolution

Complete the following steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Change the virtual server mode from SmartAccess Mode to Basic Mode on the primary NetScaler. This resolves the "SSL Error 4" messages received by the users.

  2. Change the host name of the secondary NetScaler to match with the license file. This resolves the licensing issue on the secondary NetScaler.


Problem Cause

The host names of the two NetScalers in High Availability are the same which caused the licensing issue on the secondary NetScaler.

The virtual server modes in the NetScaler is set to SmartAccess Mode but the NetScaler Gateway is licensed for Basic Mode.

After upgrading the NetScaler from 10.1 Build 119.7nc to 10.1 123.14 nc the following error is displayed "SSL Error 4: An unclassified SSL network error occurred".
