This article contains procedure to apply printer redirection policies to allow client printer redirection for users logging into a session internally, and prohibit client printer redirection logging into a session through NetScaler.
The following requirements must be met prior to creating access filter policies:
NetScaler must be in SmartAccess mode
Set the site to trust XML Requests by running the following command:
Set-BrokerSite -TrustRequestsSentToTheXmlServicePort $true
Complete the following steps to create the XenDesktop Policy:
Click on the Policy node and choose Create Policy.
Set the Client printer redirection policy to Prohibit.
Set the Auto-create client printers policy to Do not auto-create client printers.
Click Next
Assign the Access control filter to Allow with NetScaler Gateway.
Note: You can enter an asterisk (*) for the NetScaler Gateway farm name and Access condition, unless you have a certain access control set in NetScaler in which you want to apply the filter to.
Click OK.
Assign the Delivery Group you would like the policy to apply to.
Click OK, and then Next.
Click Finish to save the policy.
Log on to the VDA internally and verify the client printers are mapped in the session.
Log on to the VDA that is filtered through NetScaler and verify the client printers are not mapped in the session.
The Client Printers redirection is prohibited because the default setting is to ‘Allow’ the redirection. And when accessing sessions internally, the client printers are redirected by default. When accessing the session through NetScaler, the broker checks to see which policies to apply and sees the policy to allow prohibiting client printer redirection.
