Description
Universal Print Driver (UPD) not loading from Universal Print Server (UPS).
- UPClient on VDA
- UPServer on Print Server
- Port 7229 and 8080 listening
- Policies appear correct
- Service running for UPS service and XTE service
- Policy applying correctly to VDA machine
Error unable to connect "Operation could not be completed (error 0X00000709) is displayed.
Resolution
Complete the following steps to resolve the issue:
- Ensure UPS server policy is enabled.
- Enable the Common Gateway Protocol (CGP) policy for UPS and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) policy, if disabled.
- Enable Fallback printer policy and set to use Universal Print Server with fallback to Windows printing.
- Enable Use UPD if native driver is unavailable policy. Verify policies applying to session.
- Verify and start XTE and CGP services on UPS server.
- Confirm ports 7229 and 8080 are listening.
- Confirm connection can be made by mapping a network printer to print server successfully.
The Model shows as Universal Print Driver that demonstrated to customer UPS component is working successfully.
Problem Cause
Services on UPS Server not started. Also CGP and SOAP port policies were not set.
