  • This release is based on Version 7.1/7.5 of the VDA Core Services for Windows Server (64-bit). It patches only systems where Version 7.1/7.5 of the product is installed. Any known issues in Version 7.1/7.5 of the product, except for the specific issues resolved in this limited release, still apply.
  • You can upgrade the VDA from a console session or from an RDP session. Upgrading from within an ICA session is not supported.
  • Caution! This release may require you to edit the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

New Fixes in This Release

  1. Attempts to restart the Print Manager Service by using the Services snap-in fail. The error message "Couldn't stop this service" appears and the status of the Print Manager Service shows "stopping."

Fixes from Replaced Hotfixes

  1. If printing policies are set to "Auto-create generic Citrix Universal Printer" and the "Universal driver preference" is set to XPS, when opening a photo by using Photo Viewer and choosing Generic Citrix Universal Printer, Photo Viewer might report an error and fail to print the image.

    Important: Installing the Universal Print Server client on systems where this fix is installed effectively invalidates this fix. The issue occurs because installing the client on top of this fix reverts a binary that is modified by this fix to an earlier version. If you install the client on top of this fix, reinstall this hotfix rollup pack after installing the client to regain Fix #LC0060.

  2. This fix addresses the following issues with Windows Photo Viewer in scenarios where the "Auto-create generic universal printer" policy is enabled and the "Universal driver preference" is set to XPS:

    • Clicking OK after changing printer settings on the Settings page can cause Windows Photo Viewer to exit unexpectedly.
    • The 600 x 600 and 1200 x 1200 dpi options are not available.
    • Selecting Landscape orientation results in reverse portrait.

  3. The Citrix Print Manager Service (CpSvc.exe) process might exit unexpectedly.

  4. This fix reinstates the "Legacy printer names" policy, which was not previously available in Version 7.x of the product.

Installing and Uninstalling this Release

Notes:

  • This release is packaged with Microsoft Windows Installer 3.0 as a .msp file. For more information about deploying .msp files, see Microsoft article 884016 or visit the Microsoft Web site and search on keyword msiexec.
  • This installer program complies with Microsoft User Account Control (UAC). If UAC is enabled, you must run the installer program in elevated mode; that is, with administrative privileges enabled. For more information about UAC, see Microsoft TechNet or visit the Microsoft Web site and search on keyword UAC.
  • To install this release successfully, computers must not have registry modification restrictions in place.
  • Slipstreaming - installations of the VDA for Windows Server OS base product packaged with one or more individual hotfixes - is not supported and might leave servers in an unstable state.
  • You must restart the server after the installation of this hotfix completes. However, if you are installing multiple hotfixes at the same time, there is no need to restart the server after the installation of each hotfix. It is sufficient to restart the server after the installation of the final hotfix completes.
  • If the need arises to restore the original settings and functionality provided by this release, you must uninstall the release before reinstalling it according to the installation instructions below.

To install this release:

  1. Copy the release package to an empty folder on the hard drive of the computer you want to update.
  2. Close all applications.
  3. Run the executable.
  4. Restart the computer.

To uninstall this release:

  1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  2. Highlight the release you want to uninstall and click Uninstall.
  3. Follow the directions on-screen.
