Known Installation/Uninstallation Issues

If you select "Close the applications and attempt to restart them" on the Files in Use page of the installation wizard of this hotfix, a message might appear, stating the following:
"Setup was unable to automatically close all requested applications. Please ensure that the applications holding files in use are closed before continuing with the installation."
If this happens, you can safely ignore the message and click OK to continue with the installation.

1. Attempts to select and assign Virtual Machines (VMs) might fail if the name of the VMware cluster node contains a wildcard character "*". This can cause an an infinite loop when expanding the node.

1. This feature enhancement eliminates a limitation that prevents Desktop Studio from displaying more than 250 catalogs and desktop groups.

2. Attempting to add target devices to a streamed machine catalog in Desktop Studio with a non-standard Provisioning Services (PVS) Soap Server port might fail.

   Note: This fix addresses the issue only for new catalogs you create in Desktop Studio; any existing catalogs need to be deleted and recreated for the fix to take effect.

3. Renaming a desktop group in Desktop Studio does not rename all objects associated with the Desktop Group correctly.

   Also, attempts to create a new desktop group can fail with the following error message:

   "Object already exists."

   The issue occurs when you attempt to create a new desktop group with a name previously in use by a different desktop group and then later modified.

4. Attempts to edit the existing tag for a pooled desktop group can result in the edited tag being appended to the existing tag(s).

5. The power state of Virtual Desktop Agents imported from a .csv file can display as "Unknown." The issue occurs when the a host name in the catalog is a substring of another (for example, XS and XS_2).

6. Changes to group or user names in Active Directory are not replicated to the corresponding names in Desktop Studio. As a result, attempts to modify administrator roles in Studio can result in errors.

7. Attempts to add a duplicate entry for an existing user under Desktop Studio > Assignments > Edit Desktop Group > Machine Allocation > Select Users appear to succeed initially but the user with the duplicate entry is, in fact, not assigned to the expected machine at all.

   Adding new users to a desktop group in the Machine Allocation tab of the Edit Desktop group can delete existing users.

8. The Desktop Studio Dashboard page might take a long time to load information. The issue occurs as the desktop groups are queried for all details when opening the Home page or Assignments node in Desktop Studio. This can cause delay to enumerate all groups when moving between nodes in Desktop Studio and the Usage Graph might take a long time to load.

   To enable the fix and disable Usage Graph, set the following registry keys:

   • On 32-bit Windows:
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Citrix\DesktopStudio
     Name: DisableUsageGraph
     Type: REG_DWORD
     Value: 1
   • On 64-bit Windows:

Installing and Uninstalling this Release

Notes:

• These instructions are included for customers who are upgrading an existing installation of the Desktop Studio Management Console. For instructions about first-time installation of Desktop Studio, see Knowledge Center article CTX127527.
• This release is packaged as a .zip file containing the replacement DesktopStudio_x64.msi file. For more information about deploying msi files, see Microsoft article 884016 or visit the Microsoft Web site and search on keyword msiexec.
• Caution: Downgrades, also known as rollbacks, from this upgrade are not supported and might leave your systems in an unstable state. This upgrade does not patch the existing installation - it fully replaces it with a new installation. As a result, uninstalling this package removes the entire component from the computer. If the need arises to revert to an earlier version of the product, you must uninstall this package and then reinstall the earlier version of the product. Reverting to an earlier version of the product might result in the loss of settings you configure while this upgrade is installed.
• To install this package successfully, servers must not have registry modification restrictions in place.
• This hotfix might or might not prompt you to restart the server when the installation or uninstallation is complete. You must restart the server for the installation to complete.
• If the need arises to restore the original settings and functionality provided by this hotfix, you must uninstall the hotfix before reinstalling it according to the installation instructions below.

To install this hotfix:

1. Copy the file to a shared folder on the network.
2. Extract the compressed file and save the DesktopStudio_x64.msi file on the computer you want to update.
3. Run the .msi file.
4. Restart the computer.

To uninstall this hotfix:

1. From the Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, double-click Programs and Features.
3. Highlight the hotfix you want to remove and click Uninstall.
4. Follow the directions on-screen.
