Description

When logging into XenApp or XenDesktop with a government issued smart card, such as a Common Access Card (CAC) or a Personal Identity Verification (PIV), using the ActivClient drivers, it is required by Citrix Smart Card hooking to have the drivers installed on both the server and client workstations for optimal operation.

Failure to install the ActivClient driver on the client workstation in addition to the server may result in extra PIN prompts, a slow logon experience, and failures for the session to hook the smart card that exhibit no smart card prompt or logon.

Note: For Personal Identification Verification (PIV) there are drivers included with the Operating System for Windows 7/Windows 2012 and later, Linux using the OpenSC package, and MacOSX v10.10.

Issue/Introduction

ActivIdentity driver installation is required for CAC and PIV smart cards on both server and client workstations.
