Description

This article provides information on how to make real servers directly addressable when using the L2 bridge groups in NetScaler 10.1. NetScaler is replacing the retired third party load balancers that use a L2 bridge topology. These settings will assist in using the NetScaler as a drop in replacement.

Requirements

NetScaler firmware 10.1 120.13 or later.

Instructions

To make real servers directly addressable, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Network > Bridge Groups and configure the Bridge Groups as shown in the following screen shot.

     Bridge Groups

  2. In L2 mode, clear the Bridge Group Proxy ARP option using the L2 parameters at the top of the Network tree.

Configure Bridge Group Proxy ARP option

Note: If the appliance is in L2 mode, you must clear the Proxy ARP option between VLANs configured in a bridge group so that IP addresses on one VLAN can properly send ARP packets for IP addresses on the other VLAN.
  3. Configure Layer 4 parameters and select the L4 Switch.

    Configure Layer 4 parameters

This allows the real servers to be directly addressable using L2 Bridge Groups.
