This article explains how to create a designated Update Virtual Machine (VM) and add a host connection to the Hosts node.

    Instructions

    Complete the following steps to create a designated Update Virtual Machine and add a host connection to Hosts node.

    1. Create a diskless VM on a hypervisor. For example, AutoUpdateVM.
      Because this VM will attach to the production vDisk, configure this to start from the network only. Later, you will notice an Active Directory machine account created with the same name as the VM you created.

    2. In the Provisioning Services Console, right-click the Hosts node as shown in the following screenshot and select Add host.

    3. Select the appropriate hypervisor type. Click Next.

    1. Type an arbitrary Name and optional Description for your host connection. Click Next.

    1. Type the Hostname or IP Address of your hypervisor, port number if applicable, and click Next.

    1. Type the administrator credentials for your hypervisor and select Verify Connection.

    1. Click OK, and if connection is successful, click Next.

    The hypervisor host appears in the right pane as shown in the following screen shot:
