Provisioned Target Device booting up with multiple IP addresses.

Resolution

The following solution applies only to Targets running on a VMWare Hypervisor.

Complete the following procedure to fix the issue:
  1. Start vDisk in Private mode or create a new version and start in Maintenance mode.

  2. Type the following command at an elevated command prompt and press Enter. 
    set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

  1. Type the following command at command prompt and press Enter. 
    start devmgmt.msc

  1. Troubleshoot the devices and drivers in Device Manager.
    Note: Click Show hidden devices on the View menu in Device Manager to view the devices that are not connected to the computer.

  1. Validate any Ghosted NIC cards which appear under Network Adapters, as shown in the following screen shot.

  2. Right-click the ghosted NIC and uninstall the device. (Note: Do not remove hidden (ghost) Network Cards from a XenServer Target. Only remove them from VMWare targets)

  1. Restart the Virtual Machine.

Problem Cause

In this case, the issue was caused by a hidden network adapter.
