Description

The Provisioning Services Stream Process becomes unresponsive when a time change occurs on the Provisioning Services Server.

Resolution

Ensure NTP best practices are followed to maintain Date and Time consistency across Provisioning Services Servers and Active Directory.

If either the Provisioning Services server or Domain Controllers are virtual, follow any specific recommendations from the Hypervisor regarding Time synchronization between the virtual machines and the hosts.

Problem Cause

If a time change on the Provisioning Services server occurs and it results in a five minute or more difference between the server and Active Directory, Kerberos authentication will be broken. This will prevent Provisioning Services from authenticating to the vDisk store and database.

Issue/Introduction

This article documents the requirement for time synchronization and Kerberos authentication with Provisioning Services
