The Independent Management Architecture (IMA) service fails to start on XenApp 6.5 with specific error code %%-2147483588.
The following events can be found in the event viewer:
Failed to load plugin C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\System32\Citrix\IMA\SubSystems\ImaAppSs.dll with error IMA_RESULT_WRITE_TO_LOG_FAILED
Failed to load initial plugins with error IMA_RESULT_WRITE_TO_LOG_FAILED
The Citrix Independent Management Architecture service terminated with service-specific error %%-2147483588.
Running a repair against the base installation of XenApp 6.5 reinstates the Citrix COM+ applications. Once the components have been successfully reinstated complete the following steps to enable IMA services to start.
Open the Component Services snap-in (comexp.msc).
Expand Component Services > My Computer > COM+ Applications.
Right-click CitrixLogServer, choose Properties then choose the Security tab.
Deselect the Enforce access checks for this application check box.
To temporarily troubleshoot the issue, disable the configuration logging at farm level. This can be achieved by opening up the Citrix AppCenter console, under the Farm Properties, deselect the Log administrative tasks to Configuration Logging Database check box. Once the IMA services start successfully on the affected XenApp server, the configuration logging option can be enabled again.
The CitrixLogServer COM+ application or one of its components has corrupted during the installation of a Citrix hotfix.
