Description

This article describes the best practice for setting the Citrix Profile Manager Cache file for Provisioning Services (PVS) Server.

Instructions

Complete the following steps to fix the issue:

  1. Change the vDisk access to Private Mode or create a new Maintenance Version.
  2. Start a Target to boot from the vDisk in Private Mode or the Maintenance Version.
  3. After you have logged on to the target, access the following path:
  4. 32-bit: C:\Program Files\Citrix\User Profile Manager\
    64-bit: C:\Program Files x86\Citrix\User Profile Manager\

  5. A cache file will be available within the User Profile Manager folder.

Note: This file retains information sent over from the ADM template pushed down through the group policy.

  6. To have a clean master image:

    1. Stop the User Profile Manager Service

    2. Delete the cache file

  7. Shut down the Target.

  8. Change the vDisk from Private mode to Standard mode, or if you had created a Maintenance Version then promote the version to Production.

Each target device will recreate the cache file when the server restarts and the Change Journal's Journal ID is updated.
Note: Citrix Profile Manager 5.0 does not use a cache file.
