Description

When launching a published application through Internet Explorer, the published application starts twice when the application was clicked only once. The first instance will be successful and then wfshell calls another instance of the application.

Resolution

1. In the VDAs, go to registry key KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon and verify the value for string named ‘Userinit' and make sure it shows only 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe'. In case there are more values, delete them.

OR

2. Turn off SmartScreen filter in your Internet browser.

Complete the following procedure to turn off SmartScreen Filter:

  1. Open the Internet Explorer.

  2. From the Safety menu, select SmartScreen Filter and select Turn Off SmartScreen Filter, as shown in the following image:

    Turn off Filter

  3. On the SmartScreen Filter dialog box, select Turn off SmartScreen Filter and click OK, as shown in the following image:

    Turn off SmartScreen Filter

Problem Cause

This issue might occur because of an issue in the “SmartScreen Filter Online service.” The behavior can also occur with the Winlogon key or Userinit value in the registry on the server if not configured correctly.
