License Count is incorrect with RDS Per Device CALs when Streaming Citrix Virtual Apps VDA or Desktop VDA in Standard Mode.

RDS Licensing Manager shows multiple RDS Per Device CALs consumed by same target VDA provisioned  using Machine Creation Service (MCS) and PVS

Use RDS Per User CALs, in RDS Per User CALs license is released on user logoff,  hence the number of licenses will not be affected.

Note : RDS Per User CAL are assigned to an user in Active Directory.

Problem Cause

As per the design, standard mode targets revert to Base Virtual disk settings at restart. The RDS CAL that is issued, resides in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing\Store and streamed Targets do not retain this setting on restart. Microsoft RDS CALS are checked out for a period of 52 to 89 days.

Starting from Provisioning Service 6.0, RDS per device licensing is no longer supported with Provisioning Service.
