Background

XenDesktop 4.0 Desktop Delivery Controller (DDC) software has a number of components, such as Core Desktop Delivery Controller Services, Independent Management Architecture (IMA) Services, Pool Management Services, and Delivery Services Console (DSC). Citrix releases the hotfixes to enhance the functionality and address the reported issues within these components.

To ensure your XenDesktop Desktop Delivery Controllers are running the latest versions of software, you must review the available hotfixes on the XenDesktop 4.0 Support website http://support.citrix.com/product/xd/v4.0/hotfix/general/public/ and http://support.citrix.com/product/xd/v4.0/hotfix/general and ensure you install all applicable hotfixes.

Following is a list of various prefixes that you might notice when accessing the Citrix Hotfixes page:

  • XDE400AMC* - XenDesktop 4.0 Delivery Services Console components

  • XDE400CMC* - XenDesktop 4.0 Presentation Server Console components

  • XDE400DDC* - XenDesktop 4.0 DDC Services components

  • XDE400DDCSDK* - XenDesktop 4.0 Software Development Kit components

  • XDE400PM* - XenDesktop 4.0 Pool Management components

  • XDE400SW* - XenDesktop 4.0 Setup Wizard components

  • DDCE400* - XenDesktop 4.0 Desktop Delivery Controller Independent Management Architecture Service components

  • XDE400VDA* - XenDesktop 4.0 Virtual Desktop Agent

Note: Carefully read the release notes for each hotfix because some of these release notes might have dependencies (for example, XDE400PM* / XDE400DDC* / DDCE400* updates) on each other.

Ensure that you deploy all required hotfixes as outlined in the hotfix release notes. It is also important to note that some updates (for example, DDCE400*) are not cumulative and you might need to install several hotfixes that share the same prefix to patch all elements of that component.

The following procedure contains information about installing hotfixes to the XenDesktop 4.0 Desktop Delivery Controller as of March 2013.
Note: Refer to the following urls to ensure you are using the latest set of hotfixes:

  1. Install XenDesktop 4.0 software.

  2. Install the following hotfixes for Independent Management Architecture (IMA) Service components for 32-bit computers:

  1. Install the following hotfixes for Independent Management Architecture (IMA) Service components for 64-bit computers:·         

  1. Install the following hotfixes for Delivery Services Console components for 32-bit and 64-bit computers:

  1. I​nstall Hotfix CTX127168 - Hotfix XDE400DDC003 (Version 4.0.5016) - For Citrix XenDesktop 4.0 Desktop Delivery Controller Services for DDC Services components for 32-bit and 64-bit computers or

  2. Install *Limited Release Hotfix CTX129092 - LIMITED RELEASE - Hotfix XDE400DDC004 (Version 4.0.5037) - For Citrix XenDesktop 4.0 Desktop Delivery Controller Services for DDC Services components for 32-bit and 64-bit computers.

  3. Install Hotfix CTX129095 – Hotfix XDE400PM008 (Version 4.0.5038) - For Citrix XenDesktop 4.0 Pool Management for Pool Management components for 32-bit and 64-bit computers.

  4. Install *Limited Release Hotfix CTX132126 – LIMITED RELEASE - Hotfix XDE400PM010 (Version 4.0.5058) - For Citrix XenDesktop 4.0 Pool Management for Pool Management components for 32-bit and 64-bit computers.

  5. Install the following hotfixes for Presentation Server Console components:

  1. ​The following are the optional hotfixes installation for XenDesktop Setup Wizard components for 32-bit and 64-bit computers. This should be installed on a Provisioning Services server:

  1. ​Install optional Hotfix CTX127167 - Hotfix XDE400DDCSDK003 (Version 4.0.5016) - For Citrix XenDesktop 4.0 Delivery Controller SDK for XenDesktop SDK components for 32-bit and 64-bit computers or

  2. Install optional *Limited Release Hotfix CTX131281 - LIMITED RELEASE - Hotfix XDE400DDCSDK004 (Version 4.0.5057) - For Citrix XenDesktop 4.0 Delivery Controller SDK for XenDesktop SDK components for 32-bit and 64-bit computers.
