Unable to Reconnect to Disconnected Session when Published Desktop is Locked

Description

In XenApp version 6.0 or XenApp version 6.5, if a session is disconnected while the published desktop is locked, the user cannot reconnect to the disconnected session, and a black window appears. In some instances, in addition to the black window, additional errors such as the following appear:

"Element not found" or "This network connection does not exist."

The following procedure details how to reproduce the issue:

  1. Publish a published desktop on a XenApp 6.0 or XenApp 6.5 server.

  2. Connect to the published desktop from a client computer.

  3. Lock the published desktop in the session.

  4. Disconnect the session.

  5. Reconnect to the disconnected session from a client computer after the session is disconnected. Published desktop appears as a black window to the user, as displayed in the following screen shot:

Note: The session needs to be reset after the symptom occurs.
 

Resolution

This issue has been resolved by the latest recommended hotfixes from Citrix. These recommended hotfixes are documented in the Knowledge Center article CTX129229 – Recommended Hotfixes for XenApp 6.0 and later on Windows Server 2008 R2.
