This article provides information on how to configure Citrix time zone control in XenApp 6.x using Windows Group Policy Management console.
Requirements
The following knowledge is required:
- Windows Server Administration
- Group Policy Objects and Resulting Set of Policies
- Windows Group Policy Management Console
This console enumerates domain group policy objects but retrieves settings from the local machine. (note this when running the console on a Domain Controller or non XenApp Server).
If the console is started on a Domain Controller or non-XenApp Server, Citrix Policies or Settings does not enumerated.
- Windows Group Policy Management Editor
This console retrieves Policy Definitions (Citrix and Windows) from the Local Machine which can be edited. To enumerate Citrix Policies, launch this console on a XenApp Server.
- Citrix Delivery Services Console
This Console is used to enumerate and manage Citrix policies. Required windows settings for any given Citrix Policy must be set and managed using the Windows Group Policy Management Editor.
Instructions
To create a single policy in a GPO, complete the following steps:

Start the Group Policy Management console from a XenApp 6.0 Server.
- Expand the Domains node and create a GPO (for example, TimeZoneRedirect).

- Select the TimeZoneRedirect GPO and click the Settings tab to display the current settings.

Right click and choose Edit.
The Group Policy Management Editor starts and a Citrix Policy with the required settings can be created.

Expand the User Configuration node and click Citrix Policies from the Group Policy Management Editor console.
- Click New to start the policy wizard from the Policy Configuration interface.

- Click Next in New Policy window.

- Select Time Zone Control category and click Add in Use local time of client setting.

- Change the value to Use Client time zone.

- Click Edit in User filter and choose Domain Users.

- Ensure Enable this policy checkbox is checked.

- Enable the Allow time zone redirection setting in Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Device and Resource Redirection.
