Description

Q: What are the Rate Limiting factors for the high performance NetScaler MPX appliances?

A: In the high performance NetScaler MPX appliances, such as NetScaler MPX appliance 17500, 19500, and 21500, the following are the parameters that determine the Rate Limit of the appliance:

  • Packets per second

  • Throughput

  • Packet Engines

  • Secure Socket Layer (SSL) chips or cores

At present, the following are the Rate Limit settings for the respective appliance:

    • NetScaler MPX appliance 17500: 7 Process Engines with 8 Cavium chip set

    • NetScaler MPX appliance 19500: 9 Process Engines with 12 Cavium chip set

    • NetScaler MPX appliance 21500: 11 Process Engines with 16 Cavium chip set

Additionally, there is no difference in the hardware platform of the NetScaler MPX appliance 17500, 19500, and 21500. These appliances have the similar hardware platform, such as CPU core, Network interface Card (NIC), and SSL chip set. On these platforms, the Rate Limiting is done based on the license.

Note: On some high performance NetScaler MPX appliances, such as NetScaler MPX 10500, 12500m and 15500, only Packets per second and Throughput determine Rate limit of the appliance.
