When launching the Provisioning Services Console, the critical error message appears,
“Critical Error
A database error occurred.
Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication.”
Complete the following steps to resolve this error:
Create a domain account to be used for the Stream and Soap services.
Assign the appropriate access rights to the new account on SQL Server
Run the Configuration Wizard and specify the new domain account on the "User Account" step of the wizard.
The error message occurs when the Provisioning Services (PVS) Server is using Windows Authentication and the SQL Server instance is on different computer. Ensure that the account being used to access SQL Server is a domain account. If the account being used is a local account on the client computer, the error message occurs because the SQL Server and the Domain Controller cannot recognize a local account on a different machine.
