Description
When an ICA-published resource is started through Access Gateway Enterprise Edition, the following error message is displayed:
“Cannot connect to the Citrix Presentation server. Protocol Driver error”.
Resolution
To resolve the issue, complete the following steps:

Set the “set aaa parameter –maxAAAUsers <max number of ICA connections>” to the total number of VPN licenses purchased for the NetScaler.

Run the following command to limit the parameter per virtual server:
set vpn vserver vservername –maxAAAUsers desirednumberofconnections
Problem Cause
The “set aaa parameter –maxAAAUsers <max number of ICA connections>” needs to be set at the global level. The default global level is “5”. When the number of concurrent ICA connections exceeds this value, the error is displayed when an additional ICA-published resource is started.Issue/Introduction
