Event Log Entries for Streamed Microsoft Office 2007 Applications are Created Incorrectly

Symptoms

Event Log entries for streamed applications are created incorrectly.

Cause

This issue occurs by design.

The description for streamed application events recorded in the Event Log cannot be found because the Event Viewer runs outside of isolation and the registry settings for streamed application event sources (which generate the events) are stored inside isolation.

Status

Affected components:

Citrix XenApp Plugin for Streamed Apps 1.2

Workaround

Install a local copy of the streamed application to force the events and event source folders to display properly.

Note: If you cannot install a local copy of the streamed application, the events will continue to display incomplete information.

More Information

The message in the description says “The description for Event ID (xxx) in Source (xxx) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information..."

On Windows Vista, event source subfolders for streamed applications do not exist in the Applications and Services logs (for example: For Microsoft Office 2007, the Microsoft Office Diagnostics and Microsoft Office Sessions folders are missing). The events for these event sources are created in the Application log (Windows Logs) and contain incomplete descriptions.
