Where to Find Documentation

This document describes the issue solved by this hotfix and includes installation instructions. You can find more information about Provisioning Server 4.5 in the Provisioning Server 4.5 SP1 Installation and Administration Guide. All product documentation is available from the Citrix Web site at http://www.citrix.com/support.

Issue(s) Resolved in this Hotfix

When the cache on local hard drive type is selected and the page file is configured to be on the C: drive, the PVS target device does not change the page file from the C: drive, which is the vDisk, to local hard drive. This can reduce the performance of the target device and may cause a deadlock accessing the cache file.

This issue occurs on Windows 2003 Server or Windows Vista if you change the virtual memory settings via the System Control panel applet and the page file is configured to be on the C: drive. However it does not occur on Windows XP.

Single partition vDisk

Pagefile will be moved to the next “hard drive” available (e.g. D)

Multiple partition vDisk (C & D or C & E or C & F)

Modify the following registry to point to local drive HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\

PagingFiles contains the location of the paging file and if applicable size (Location InitialSize MaximumSize)

Multiple partition vDisk (C & G (or higher))

Pagefile will be moved to the next “hard drive” available (e.g. D)
