When installing or upgrading the licensing component, the install fails with error 2343: Specified path is empty.
When installing or upgrading the licensing component a check is made in the registry to read the value for the path of the MyFiles folder. If the License key name located at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FlexLm License Manager\CitrixLicensing is empty, then the install fails.
When running the lmstat –a command, an error appears that it cannot find the license file.
Complete the following steps to resolve this issue:
- Manually edit the license key in the registry to match the exact location of the My Files folder for the citrix licensing installation. The path is located in <Program Files Directory>\Citrix\Licensing\MyFiles or you can use the Citrix License Path Utility.
Note: Refer to CTX111344 – [Document Not Found], for information.
Caution! This fix requires you to edit the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.
- Run the License Administration command, lmpath, to point the license server to a license file. The following is a sample command:
lmpath –add CITRIX “C:\Program Files\Citrix\Licensing\MyFiles\citrix_startup.lic”
If the command is successful, the following message appears at the command prompt:
"New path for CITRIX_LICENSE_FILE: C:\Program Files\Citrix\Licensing\MyFiles\citrix_startup.lic"
Note: Some attempts to copy and paste the text from this article to a command prompt and then executing the lmpath command have been unsuccessful. Manually enter the entire command line path to eliminate any possible syntax errors.
