Issue(s) Resolved in this Hotfix

This hotfix addresses the following issues reported against Citrix Provisioning Services 5.6 release:

TR-9980: The Citrix Provisioning Services Device Service resets the computer account password when the master target device PXE boots to the hard disk. If you reboot the master target device several times you may receive the following error message when you logon as a domain user: "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed".

TR-10047: The Citrix Provisioning Services Device Service crashes due to buffer overflow.

Installing and Uninstalling this Hotfix

Notes:

    • The user must have administrative rights to the server and target device.

To install this hotfix:

    1. Download the hotfix package from the Hotfixes and Service Packs page of the Citrix Web site at http://www.citrix.com.

2. Copy the hotfix package to an empty folder on the hard drive of the server you want to install the hotfix from and unzip the file.

Steps to install the hotfix:

INSTALLATION

The hotfix folder includes the following two subfolders:

target32bit (32bit Windows installation)

target64bit (64bit Windows installation)

Please check your Provisioning Services target device for system type and select the correct subfolders to apply the hotfix following the procedure described below.

For TR-9980 you must install the hotfix on the master target device.

1. Boot the master target device from the local hard disk.

2. Stop "Citrix PVS Device Service" using the “Services” control Panel.

3. Backup the following file from installation directory (default is C:\Program Files\Citrix\Provisioning Services):

BNDevice.exe

4. Copy the following files from the selected sub-folder included in this Hotfix to installation directory (default is C:\Program Files\Citrix\Provisioning Services):

- For 32-bit, copy from target32bit subfolder:

BNDevice.exe

- For 64-bit, copy from target64bit subfolder:

BNDevice.exe

5. If the issue already occurred you must remove the master target device from the domain then join to the domain again.

To install the hotfix on the vDisk:

1. From the Citrix Provisioning Services Console, shutdown all target devices provisioned by the Provisioning Services server(s) that uses the VDisk to be upgraded.

2. From the Provisioning Services Console, mount the vDisk by selecting the vDisk in the store to be updated, right click and select “Mount vDisk” from the menu options.

Note: The vDisk is added as a hard disk in the "My Computer" window. The first available drive letter is assigned to the vDisk.

3. Launch Windows Explorer and browse to "Program files\Citrix\Provisioning Services" directory within the mapped vDisk; backup the following file:

BNDevice.exe

4. Copy the following files from the selected target device sub-folder included in this hotfix to " Program files\Citrix\Provisioning Services" directory of the mapped vDisk, make sure to copy from the appropriate directory (target32bit or target64bit) for your target machine type:

- For 32-bit, copy from target32bit subfolder:

BNDevice.exe

PVS5.6_hf9980_10047_32bit_manifest.md5

- For 64-bit, copy from target64bit subfolder:

BNDevice.exe

5. Close Windows Explorer and from the Provisioning Services Console, right click the vDisk and select "Unmount vDisk" to unmap the vDisk.

To uninstall this hotfix:

Follow the same procedure for installation replacing the new files with the original files backed up.
