EdgeSight Error: The path of the item is not valid

Symptoms

After creating a new report, it runs successfully from reporting service but causes the following error on EdgeSight:

"Server Error in '/edgesight' Application.

The path of the item '' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. ---> The path of the item '' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. "

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details
: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: The path of the item '' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. ---> The path of the item '' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash.

Cause

EdgeSight requires a parameter for it's reports.

Resolution

Add a parameter for the report.

Sample code:

At the .RDL file add this or any parameters.

       <QueryParameters>
         <QueryParameter Name="@Device">
           <Value>=Parameters!Device.Value</Value>
         </QueryParameter>
       </QueryParameters>



<ReportParameters>  
   <ReportParameter Name="Device">
     <DataType>String</DataType>
     <AllowBlank>true</AllowBlank>
     <Prompt>Device</Prompt>
   </ReportParameter>
</ReportParameters>

Status

This is by design.
