If the NetScaler appliance does not respond, and you want to force a core dump and restart the appliance, you can use the NMI button. The core files help the Citrix Technical Support team to investigate the reason for the NetScaler appliance not to respond.

The NMI Button

The NMI button is the recessed red button available at the rear of the NetScaler appliance models referred in the Requirements section. When you press this button, the NetScaler appliance dumps a core and restarts the appliance. The vmcore and kernel files are available in the /var/crash directory.

Although most NetScaler SDX appliances have the physical NMI button, the NetScaler SDX platform currently does not support NMI operations.

Note: The process of dumping a core and restarting the appliance can take between 10 and 45 minutes, depending on the RAM of the appliance.
