Symptoms
After you enable IP pooling in Citrix Access Gateway Standard Edition, IP addresses that are not in the specified range are assigned to client computers connecting over the virtual private network (VPN).
Environment
Cause
The Access Gateway assigns IP addresses based on the number of IP addresses required on the network. The Access Gateway assigns a subnet for the IP addresses and calculates the values for the IP addresses to be assigned. For example, if you have configured IP pooling on the 10.26.64.90 IP address for two IP addresses, the Access Gateway uses 255.255.255.252/30 as a subnet and calculates the broadcast and network IP addresses based on the subnet.
After calculating the broadcast and network IP addresses, the Access Gateway assigns the next available IP address to the client computer connecting to the network. If you configure IP pooling with an IP address that can contain any of the reserve IP addresses, the Access Gateway can also assign the 0.0.0.0 IP address to a client computer.
Workaround
Configure the IP pooling feature so that it does not include reserved IP addresses. For example, you can configure an IP pool on the 10.26.64.193 IP address for two IP addresses. In this case, the Access Gateway assigns 255.255.255.252/30 as the subnet. The client computers connecting remotely are assigned IP addresses of 10.26.64.193 and 10.26.64.194.
More Information
The IP pooling fix will be available in version 4.5.8.
