This is the hotfix readme for XenServer 4.1.0 hotfix 2008-002. Citrix strongly encourages XenServer users to install this update at their earliest convenience.

Issue(s) addressed in this hotfix

    • Support for Windows XP SP3 guests and hibernation.

    • Improved compatibility with the Daemon Tools application (http://www.daemon-tools.cc) when used on Windows virtual machines (if you are already using Daemon Tools, you may need to uninstall it before installing the new XenServer Tools, then reinstall it).

    • Improved behavior of resource pools when adding hosts to existing pools with VLANs configured.

    • (Security) Resolved cross-site scripting vulnerability (documented at http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX117814).

Installing this hotfix

    1. Ensure that your XenCenter session is connected to all XenServer 4.1.0 hosts to be able to update them.

    2. In the menus, go to Help > Check for Updates.

    3. Update 2008-001 must be applied before applying this new hotfix. If it has not yet been applied, follow the directions on the page to download and apply it.

    4. From the displayed page, either save the hotfix file to your local computer and double-click the file to launch it, or click on the link to launch it directly from the Web page.

    5. When the Update Wizard is displayed, follow the on-screen directions.

    6. Once the hotfix is applied successfully, you must restart your XenServer hosts for it to take effect. For XenServer Platinum and Enterprise Editions, you can use XenMotion to migrate running virtual machines to another server, restart, and then migrate the virtual machines back. For Standard and Express Editions, you must suspend your virtual machines and resume them after restarting (or shut down before the reboot and restart after).

    7. After restarting the systems, you must to update the XenServer Tools running in Windows virtual machines. You can identify the virtual machines requiring updating from the virtual machine’s General pane within XenCenter; a warning indicating that the software is out-of-date will be displayed.
