Summary
Starting with Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0, all license files are compatible with any FLEXlm version 6 license server.
Licensing compatibility
To communicate properly with the license server, the following must be available:
• An available Citrix platform license server.
• License files that contain the license value (that is, MPS_ENT_CCU). These license files must match the product you want to connect to.
• License files that contain a Subscription Advantage expiration date, which unlocks the corresponding product version (for example, 2007.0228 for Presentation Server 4.5).
Q: If you upgrade your license(s) to version 4.5 and place them on a 4.5 license server (and have no other 3.0 or 4.0 licenses on the license server), will your Presentation Server 3.0 and 4.0 server farms pointing to this license server be licensed by the 4.5 license file?
A: Yes. The FLEXlm version 6 license on a 4.5 license server can communicate with earlier platforms, such as Presentation Server 3.0 and 4.0.
