Summary
This article describes how to migrate from Citrix EdgeSight version 4.2 to version 4.5.
Procedure
1. Download the EdgeSight 4.5 CD-ROM image using your MyCitrix account. This image contains the server, agent, and license server software.
2. EdgeSight 4.5 requires version 4.5 of the Citrix License Server. This is included in the EdgeSight 4.5 CD-ROM image.
Note: EdgeSight 4.2 requires a dedicated license server to be installed on every EdgeSight 4.2 Web server. Therefore, if you have multiple EdgeSight servers, you must have multiple license servers. This requirement does not exist with EdgeSight 4.5—you can consolidate all of your license servers into a single license server.
3. If you already have a Citrix License Server version 4.5 in place,install your EdgeSight licenses on it. By default, the Presentation Server agent looks to the same license server that the server running Presentation Server uses.
If you have Endpoints agents in addition to Presentation Server agents, make sure this license server name is set correctly on the Server Settings > Configuration > Licensing page.
4. If you do not have an existing version 4.5 Citrix License Server, upgrade the license server (4.0) already running on the version 4.2 EdgeSight Web Server to version 4.5.
a. If you have multiple EdgeSight servers, make sure that they are all using the same Citrix License Server by checking the Server Settings > Configuration > Licensing page.
b. If you only have Endpoints agents, skip to Step 5.
c. If you have Presentation Server agents, make sure that you create a custom agent configuration with the name of the EdgeSight license server. Assign this configuration to all the departments that have servers running Presentation Server in them. It is necessary to configure the Presentation Server agent to look to the license server running on the EdgeSight server and NOT the one that the server running Presentation Server is configured to use.
5. Back up your EdgeSight database.
6. Restart the EdgeSight Web server to reset all processes and start in a normal state.
7 .Upgrade the EdgeSight server. You must have your RSUser and SpectUser passwords. This process may take an hour or more depending upon how many agents are reporting up.
8. Deploy and upgrade the agents.
Note: Version 4.2 agents report to a version 4.5 server with no problems. It is acceptable to have multiple agent versions (4.1, 4.2, 4.5) reporting to a version 4.5 server. However, you cannot have a version 4.5 agent report up to a version 4.2 server.
