Severity: High
Description of Problem
The client components provided by Access Gateway Standard and Advanced Editions are subject to vulnerabilities that could allow an attacker to run arbitrary code on the client machine in the context of the user currently logged in.
These vulnerabilities are present in all versions of the client components provided by Access Gateway Standard Edition up to and including 4.5.2 and all versions of Access Gateway Advanced Editions up to and including version 4.5 with appliance firmware up to and including 4.5.2.
What Customers Should Do
These vulnerabilities have been addressed in the client components provided by Access Gateway Standard Edition version 4.5.5 and Access Gateway Advanced Edition 4.5 HF1 with appliance firmware version 4.5.5.
Due to this and other issues (listed below), Citrix strongly recommends that customers upgrade their Access Gateway appliance to firmware version 4.5.5 and upgrade to Access Gateway Advanced Edition 4.5 HF1.
Additionally, Citrix recommends that all instances of the following controls are removed from client devices:
VPN ActiveX components:
• Net6Helper.DLL (Friendly name: Net6Launcher Class, version number up to and including 4.5.2)
EPA Components (ActiveX):
• npCtxCAO.dll (Friendly name: CCAOControl Object, version number up to 4,5,0,0)
EPA Components (Firefox plugin):
• npCtxCAO.dll (Friendly name: Citrix Endpoint Analysis Client, present in two locations)
All users must remove the listed components, even if they no longer use the client components to connect to a working deployment. Connecting to a server that installs an upgraded client will not remove the older, vulnerable version from their client machine.
