Important: Read this bulletin before proceeding with any pre-installation, installation, or post-installation tasks. Follow all instructions carefully because you might not be able to properly install or run the product otherwise.
Step 1 ensures that the servers on which you plan to install the product feature all necessary system updates.
Step 2 ensures that the sequence of your product installation occurs in the correct order.
Important Upgrade Note:
If you are upgrading to Presentation Server 4.5, Feature Pack 1 and are currently using a post-10.0 client, select No during the installation process when asked whether you want to downgrade to the 10.0 client. Selecting No ensures that your post-10.0 client is not replaced by the older 10.0 client. Failure to do so might prevent you from upgrading to later versions of the client.
Important Notes about Specific Components:
If your operating system is configured to allow MSI logging - either by registry or group policy object - make sure to review security bulletin CTX116228 and take any remedial action required for your setup.
Citrix Health Check Agent:
The Citrix Health Check Agent for Presentation Server 4.0 does not work with Presentation Server 4.5 or later. If you have CitrixHCA4 or a later version of the Health Check Agent installed, you must uninstall it before upgrading to Presentation Server 4.5. Failing to do so might cause system inconsistencies.
Access Management Console:
If you are planning to install the Access Management Console for Presentation Server, Password Manager, and the Access Gateway on the same server, you must install those components in the following order:
Presentation Server Client:
Presentation Server 4.5 Feature Pack 1 installs Version 10.0 of the Presentation Server Client as the pass-through client. If you use the pass-through client, be sure to take full advantage of Presentation Server 4.5, Feature Pack 1, by installing Version 10.150 of the client on the server after completing all other Presentation Server component installations. Version 10.150 of the client is available at http://www.citrix.com/download.
Note: After installing Version 10.150 of the Presentation Server Client, you can no longer use Citrix Streaming Clients Package.msi to install the Streaming Client because the package contains an older version of Program Neighborhood Agent. Instead, use Citrix Streaming Client.msi.
Streaming Client:
Version 1.1 of the Citrix Streaming Client offers significant performance and application compatibility improvements. However, the client is not installed as part of the automated Presentation Server pass-through client installation. To take full advantage of Presentation Server 4.5, Feature Pack 1 dual-mode streaming to stream applications to Presentation Server sessions, install Version 1.1 of the Streaming Client on the server after completing all other Presentation Server component installations. Version 1.1 of the client is available on the Feature Pack 1 Components CD. For the latest client updates, visit http://www.citrix.com/download.
Note: After installing Version 10.150 of the Presentation Server Client, you can no longer use Citrix Streaming Clients Package.msi to install the Streaming Client because the package contains an older version of Program Neighborhood Agent. Instead, use Citrix Streaming Client.msi.
SmartAuditor:
If you are planning to install SmartAuditor, you must install the following hotfix before installing SmartAuditor:
| Windows Operating System | Presentation Server Hotfix |
| Windows Server 2003, 32bit | PSE450R01W2K3011 |
| Windows Server 2003, 64bit | PSE450R01W2K3X64006 |
When upgrading from the French, German, and Spanish language versions of Presentation Server 4.0 with Hotfix Rollup Pack 2 or later, you are prompted for the Presentation Server 4.5 CD after the server restarts. The issue is caused by a GUID mismatch for the file licerrorUI.dll between the hotfix rollup pack and Presentation Server 4.5.
Note: This issue affects only upgrades of French, German and Spanish systems from Hotfix Rollup Pack 2 and later. It does not affect upgrades from Hotfix Rollup Pack 1 nor upgrades of English and Japanese systems.
The following workarounds prevent the CD prompt from appearing:
