Summary

This article describes the changes to daylight-saving time (DST) that take effect starting on March 11, 2007 and the Citrix products that require updates.

DST Changes for 2007

Starting in the spring of 2007, the DST start and end dates for the United States transition to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The start date changes from Sunday, April 1 to Sunday, March 11. The end date changes from Sunday, October 28 to Sunday, November 4.

Citrix is committed to ensuring compatibility with various operating systems and the DST changes starting on March 11, 2007. As you prepare for these changes, Citrix recommends that you follow the guidelines set forth by the operating systems and software manufactures one intends to use in conjunction with Citrix products. Server and client operating systems should be updated along with the Java Runtime component.

DST Updates for Citrix Products

• Presentation Server Console (also known as the Citrix Management Console)
Citrix testing has shown that servers and workstations running the Citrix Management Console require the operating system update as well as an update to the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Session logon times, as well as the client workstation updates, can appear incorrectly if these updates have not been completed.
Note
: Windows 2000 Server was not tested.

Refer to the table below for the JRE update method required for your Citrix Presentation Server version.

    Citrix version

    Version of Sun JRE shipped

    Suggested JRE

    Citrix Presentation Server 4.5

    1.5.0_09

    (No issues found)

    Citrix Presentation Server 4.0

    1.4.2_06

    1.4.2_13 (No issues found)

Citrix Presentation Server 4.0, 64-bit Edition

    1.4.2_06

    1.4.2_13 (No issues found)

    Citrix Presentation Server 3.0

    1.4.1_02

Use the TZupdater tool, because there is no acceptable JRE version to upgrade. (Limited testing performed)

MetaFrame XP – Feature Release 3

    1.4.1

Use the TZupdater tool, because there is no acceptable JRE version to upgrade. (Limited testing performed)

MetaFrame XP – Feature Release 2

    1.3.0

    1.3.1_18 (Limited testing performed)

MetaFrame XP – Feature Release 1

    1.3.0

    1.3.1_18 (Limited testing performed)

• Note: JRE major versions should not be upgraded. For example, do not attempt to upgrade the JRE from version 1.4.x_x to 1.5.x_x as the Citrix Management Console does not recognize the upgraded major version. Please upgrade the JRE according to the methods tested in the above table.

• EdgeSight
The 4.1 and 4.2 versions of the EdgeSight Server component require a software update. See CTX112602 – How the Changes to Daylight-saving Time in 2007 Affect EdgeSight.

• NetScaler
Refer to article CTX112540 – How to Update the NetScaler for Daylight-saving Time in 2007.

• Citrix Access Gateway 4.x
Steps are required to ensure your Access Gateway 4.x complies with Energy Policy Act of 2005. See CTX112679 – 2007 Daylight-saving Time Update for Access Gateway 4.x.

• Note on client workstations
There are no Presentation Server Client upgrades required for the 2007 DST change. However, the client workstation still requires the operating system update as well as an update to the latest 2007 DST-compliant JRE version. Refer to the links in the More Information section below.
