The following is a list of known issues in this release. Read it carefully before installing the product.
When WebSphere Application Server versions previous to 6.0.2.5 are used as the base upon which to install the portal server, it may not be possible for users to log on to the portlet, even though their credentials are correct. This is caused by the class loaders locating the Commons Logging package supplied with WebSphere Application Server rather than that supplied by the Web Interface for WebSphere .war file. This behavior generates the following entry in the WebSphere Portal Server SystemOut.log file:
SRVE0026E: [Servlet Error]-[org/apache/struts/taglib/tiles/InsertTag]: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/struts/taglib/tiles/InsertTag[#144245]

In certain Java installations, support for extended character set encoding is not present and so extended characters are output incorrectly. This depends upon whether or not the Support for Additional Languages feature is selected.
If Java is installed using a JDK installer, the Support for Additional Languages feature is selected by default when installing the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) component. However, when using a JRE-only installer, this feature can be selected only when performing a custom installation.
If extended character support is required during installation, ensure the Java installation has the Support for Additional Languages feature selected. [#148168]

If you include HTML tag characters when defining the Application Name in the Web Interface for WebSphere Deployment wizard, the Application Name may not display correctly during the rest of the installation process. However, the name will display correctly on the WebSphere portal pages. [#148202]

Values entered on the Portal Configuration page for The prompt for Credentials field are encoded prior to validation. This allows the use of single-quote (') and double-quote (") characters in this prompt, which are commonly not permitted because they can be used to affect HTML rendering. This encoding converts a single quote (') to the HTML value ' and a double quote (") to ". The quotes appear as normal on the Portal Configuration page.
Values entered for The prompt for Credentials field can also be viewed and edited by locating the portal in the WebSphere Portal Server Administration > Portlet Management > Portlets page, then clicking Configure portlet, followed by Edit parameter for CredentialPrompt. Because this entry cannot be encoded before validation, any quotes in the CredentialPrompt field will be rejected. In addition, although quotes in The prompt for Credentials field will appear as normal in the CredentialPrompt field, clicking OK on this page will cause the field to be validated and any quotes used will be rejected as invalid characters.
You should avoid editing CredentialPrompt on the WebSphere Portal Server Administration > Portlet Management > Portlets > Configure page if you wish to use single or double quotes. If you must enter quotes in the CredentialPrompt field, you should use the code ' for a single quote and " for a double quote. [#148832]
[Known Issues in this Release]
If you plan to use the Web Interface for WebSphere portlet solely as a viewer to an existing Web Interface site (External Mode), you do not need to change any of the options presented in the Deployment wizard. Accept the default values for each option. See the Citrix Web Interface for IBM WebSphere Portal Administrator's Guide for more information about the options in the Deployment wizard. [#152861]
[Known Issues in this Release]
When using a standard deployment of Citrix Presentation Server, Standard Edition as the Web Interface XML service, logging in to the portlet causes an error message to appear, warning that applications cannot reconnect. On logging out from the portlet, the application fails and displays a JavaScript error. This is because standard deployments of Citrix Presentation Server, Standard Edition do not support workspace control, which is activated by default in Web Interface.
To resolve this issue, see the Citrix Presentation Server Administrator's Guide and the Web Interface Administrator's Guide for details of how to harmonize settings between CPS and WI. [#155908]
