Summary
This article describes how to add and change custom zones for Zone Paging.
Background
When you add a custom zone, you specify each extension that will be a member of the zone and specify its paging permissions (send and receive, send only, or receive only). You can change a custom zone by adding or deleting its member extensions. The list of available extensions is updated when the Application Gateway(s) synchronize with the CallManager DeviceListX Report to update the IP/DN map.
If an IP phone’s license status is changed to Denied in the License Monitor, the extension is removed from the list of available zones. If an extension is no longer used, it is not automatically removed from the zones, as the system has no way to determine if the extension is temporarily or permanently out of use. Go to Operation > Voice Office > Paging to remove unneeded extensions from a zone.
Procedure
To add a paging zone:
- Open the Application Gateway Administration Tool: From a Web browser, enter the following URL:
https://AG_ipAddress:AG_adminPort - Go to Operation > Voice Office > Paging.

- By default, Zone Paging imports zones from Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) based on the settings configured on the Operation > Voice Office > Directory page. To use custom zones only, clear the Import Zones from LDAP check box.
- Click Add Zone.
- Enter a name for the zone. Limit zone names to 32 characters or less.

- The Available Extensions column displays all extensions obtained from the IP/DN map in numeric order. Use the number links below the list to view additional extensions.
- Select the check box next to each extension that you want to include in the zone, or use the Select/Deselect All check box.
- To change the paging permission for an extension, make a selection from the Send/Receive menu.
- Click Add Selected. The selected extensions now appear in the Members of Zone column.
- When you have completed adding members to the zone, click Submit. The new zone then appears in the Zones Added list.
To change the members included in a zone:
- Go to Operation > Voice Office > Paging.
- Locate the zone name that you want to change and click its Edit zone link.

- Use the dialog box to remove members from the Members of Zone list and add members from the Available Extensions list. To change the paging permission for an extension, delete and re-add it.
- When you have completed changing the zone, click Submit.
To delete a paging zone:
Under Operation > Voice Office > Paging, select the check box of each zone that you want to delete and click Delete Selected.
