Symptoms
Client printers fail to autocreate during a user logon. An event is written to the Event Viewer with an ID of 1116 and source of “MetaFrame Events.” The event also contains “Reason: AddPrinter() failed with status 0x6BE.”
Converting the hexadecimal 6BE to decimal and using net helpmsg provides the following information:
The remote procedure call (RPC) failed.
Cause
This problem occurs because an RPC can re-use a TCP connection that the server has already asked to close. When the RPC does this, the server responds by using an ACK/RST packet. Additionally, the server causes the 0x6BE exception to occur on the client computer.
Resolution
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in Microsoft article 913957. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. If you are not severely affected by this problem, Citrix recommends that you wait for the next Windows Server 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.
To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
