Summary

This article describes how to assign Voice Office functions to IP phone line keys.

Background

  • You can configure IP phone line keys so that users of Cisco IP phones with multiple line keys (such as 7940/41, 7960/61, and 7970/71) can access a Voice Office application or page a particular zone by pressing a line key
  • You associate a URL with a line key through the Cisco CallManager Administration interface, as described in the “Configuring a Phone Button in Cisco CallManager for Multiple Phones” section of the Application Gateway Administration Guide
  • You can also include these URLs on an XML page

Procedure

The following table lists the URLs associated with various Voice Office functions.

Note: When using these URLs, replace <ag_ip> with the Application Gateway IP address.

URL

Action

http://<ag_ip>/voiceoffice?app=bcs

Displays the list of active alerts.

http://<ag_ip>/voiceoffice?app=directory

Displays the list of directories. If there is only one directory, or if the directories are combined, displays the directory pruning page.

http://<ag_ip>/voiceoffice?app=directory&dir=N

Displays a particular directory. See the following procedure for instructions on copying this link from the Administration Tool.

http://<ag_ip>/voiceoffice?app=vvm

Displays the Visual Voicemail login screen or, if the user is already logged in, displays the messages list.

http://<ag_ip>/voiceoffice?app=zp&cmd=zones

Displays the list of zones that the user can page.

http://<ag_ip>/voiceoffice?app=zp&cmd=begin&zone=N

Starts paging a particular zone. See the following procedure for instructions on copying this link from the Administration Tool.

Note: If a phone does not belong to the zone or if a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) synchronization has not completed since the zone was created, this link displays the list of zones that the user can page.

URLs that reference a directory or zone number must be copied from the Administration Tool as described in the following procedure:

  1. In the Application Gateway Administration Tool, go to Operation > Voice Office.
  2. To find and copy the URL for a directory:
    1. Click the Directory tab.
    2. Choose a directory number from Configure Source. The directory name appears in the Directory Title field.
    3. Right-click the link labeled Copy URL.
    4. Click Copy Shortcut (in Internet Explorer) or Copy Link Location (in Firefox). The copied link is what you paste into Cisco CallManager.
  3. To find and copy the URL for a zone:
    1. Click the Paging tab.
    2. Beside the zone name, right-click the link labeled Copy URL.
    3. Click Copy Shortcut (in Internet Explorer) or Copy Link Location (in Firefox). The copied link is what you will paste into Cisco CallManager.

Configuring a phone button in Cisco CallManager for multiple phones:

Use the Cisco CallManager Administration interface to add a service and associate that service with a line or speed dial key on all phones that use a particular phone button template. Use the following procedure:

  1. Edit or add a phone button template.
  2. Add an IP phone service.
  3. Subscribe each phone to the service.
  4. Apply the template to the phone.
  5. Add the Service URL to the phone.

To assign a Service URL to a phone button template:

  1. In the Cisco CallManager Administration interface, go to Device > Device Settings > Phone Button Template.
  2. Select the phone button template that you want to configure. If the template is read-only, you must edit a copy of the button template. Each Device Pool is associated with a phone button template. You might need to refer to the Device Pool settings to determine which phone button templates require changes.
  3. On the Phone Button Configuration page, enable one or more keys as a Service URL and specify a label for the key.
  4. Enter a name for the template.
  5. Select Service URL for the line keys or speed dial keys that you want to use.
  6. Click Insert and then click Update.
  7. If the template is already used by devices, click Restart Devices.

To add a service:

  1. In the Cisco CallManager Administration interface, go to Feature > Cisco IP Phones Services.
  2. Click Add a New IP Phone Service and enter a name for the service.
  3. Enter a URL from the table above as the Service URL.
  4. Click Insert and then click Update Subscriptions.

To subscribe the phones to the phone service:

  1. Use the Cisco Bulk Administration Tool (BAT) to subscribe the phones to the newly created services.
  2. Go to Configure > Phones.
  3. Click Update Phones and click Next.
  4. Change the query as needed.
  5. Enter the Service URL. You can enter two URLs at a time.
  6. Click Update and then click OK.

To choose the button template that a phone should use:

  1. In the Cisco CallManager Administration interface, go to Device > Phone.
  2. Select the phone to configure.
  3. Under Phone Button Template Information, select phone button template that the phone is to use.
  4. Click Update and then click Reset Phone.

Note: If you use auto-registration, you can associate a phone button template with a device type as follows:

    1. Go to System > Device Defaults.
    2. For each device type that you want to change, select the phone button template name from the Phone Template menu across from the device type name and click Update.
    3. Restart the phones.

To add a Service URL button to an IP phone:

  1. In the Cisco CallManager Administration interface, go to Device > Phone and search for the phone.
  2. Select the phones and then click Subscribe/Unsubscribe Services.
  3. From the Select a Service menu, choose the service created for accessing a Voice Office application.
  4. Click Continue and then click Subscribe and Update.
  5. Close the window.
  6. Click Add/Update Service URL Buttons.
  7. Select the URL service from Button Service menu and specify a label for it.
  8. Click Update and Close and then click Reset Phone.
