Configuring Cisco IP Phones to Display the Application Gateway Voice Office Menu

Summary

This article describes how to configure IP phones to display the Voice Office menu.

Requirements

The following instructions apply to Cisco IP Phone models 7940, 7960, and 7970.

Background

You can configure Cisco IP phones to access the Voice Office menu in any of the following ways:

  • As the idle URL
  • As the Main Services Menu that displays when the Services button is pressed*
  • As a menu item in the IP Phone Services Menu*

    * Your subscribed CallManager services are available through My Subscribed Services.

Procedure

To set the idle URL or Services button to the Voice Office Menu:

  1. In the Cisco CallManager Administration interface, select System > Enterprise Parameters.
  2. In the URL Idle field, point to the Application Gateway IP address as follows:

    http://AG_ipAddress:AG_port

    For example, if the Application Gateway IP address is 10.10.0.20 and the HTTP port is 80, enter http://10.10.0.20:80
  3. In the URL Idle Time field, enter the elapsed idle time in seconds after which the Voice Office Menu should display.
  4. To point the Services button to the Voice Office Menu, set the URL Services field to the Application Gateway IP address as shown in Step 2.
  5. Click Update and then log off of the CallManager interface.

To set the Directory button to Express Directory:

  1. In the Cisco CallManager Administration interface, go to System > Enterprise Parameters.
  2. In the URL Directories field, point to the Application Gateway IP address as follows:

    http://AG_ipAddress/directory-key

    For example, if the Application Gateway IP address is 10.10.0.20 and the HTTP port is 80, enter http://10.10.0.20:80/directory-key
    Note
    : http://AG_ipAddress/directory-key is the only URL that should be entered in the URL Directories field and should not be specified for a line key.
  3. Click Update and then log out of the CallManager interface.

To set the IP Phone Services Menu to the Voice Office Menu:

  1. In the Cisco CallManager Administration interface, go to Feature > Cisco IP Phone Services.
  2. Click Add a New IP Phone Service.
  3. In the Service Name field, type Voice Office.
  4. In the Service URL field, type the Application Gateway IP address as follows:

    http://AG_ipAddress:AG_port

    For example, if the Application Gateway IP address is 10.10.0.20 and the HTTP port is 80, enter http://10.10.0.20:80.
  5. Click Insert to create the service. There are no service parameters for the Voice Office Menu.

Now that the service is created, you subscribe to it as follows:

  1. From the Device menu, choose Phone and locate the phone you want subscribed to the Voice Office Menu service.
    For example, if you know the last digits of the phone’s Media Access Control (MAC) address, choose Device Name and ends with from the two drop-down menus, enter the last digits of the MAC address in the text field, and click Find.
  2. When you locate the phone, click the device name.
  3. Click Subscribe/Unsubscribe Services.
  4. From the Select a Service menu, choose Voice Office and then click Continue.
  5. Click Subscribe and then log out of the CallManager interface.
