Symptoms
In the Resource Manager log, the following information appears after testing the connection on a 64-bit Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 or 4.5 Resource Manager Database Connection Server:
“Source [Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers].
Description [[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified].”
In the Citrix Management Console, the Test button in the Summary Database configuration shows:
“Server: consrv1
Server is up
Summary database software OK
DSN undefined
Database accessibility cannot be determined.”
Cause
The data source name (DSN) rmsummarydatabase has been created using Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC) on a 64-bit database connection server connecting to a 32-bit SQL database server.
Resolution
If a 64-bit Presentation Server 4.0 or 4.5 server connects to a summary database on a 32-bit SQL server, you must create a system DSN called rmsummarydatabase (this is not case-sensitive).
Using the Run dialog box, type %SystemRoot%\SysWow64\odbcad32.exe
Note: Do not use Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC).
