Summary

Once existing users have the Program Neighborhood Agent ICA client installed with a particular server URL value, the users may need to point to a new URL. This article documents steps to take to deploy the updated server URL to the users without requiring the users to manually change the server URL. This article and the steps below apply to Citrix Presentation Server 4.0, version 4.0 of the Access Suite Console, and Web Interface 4.0/4.2. An existing Program Neighborhood Agent site using a local configuration file(s) is used for the purpose of this article.

Procedure

  1. Ensure a Program Neighborhood Agent site has been created using the Create Site wizard in the Access Suite Console. Refer to the Web Interface Administrator’s Guide for more information.
  2. In the left pane of the Access Suite Console, browse to the Program Neighborhood Agent site. The Program Neighborhood Agent site should be located under Suite Components > Configuration tools > Web Interface. By default, the name of the site uses this format:
    http://<servername>/Citrix/PNAgent.
  1. After highlighting the Program Neighborhood Agent site in the left pane of the Access Suite Console, locate the config.xml file displayed in the right pane under the Program Neighborhood Agent Client Configuration section. Right-click the config.xml file and select Manage Server Settings from the context menu. This should open a window named Manage Server Settings – config.xml.
  2. Under the Configuration Redirection section in this window, choose Absolute.
  3. Enter the new URL you want the Program Neighborhood Agent ICA client users to begin using. Choose the option to immediately update or update after the user re-launches the Program Neighborhood Agent ICA client.
Note: Proceed to step 6 if the Access Suite Console included with Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 is being used.

If the Access Suite Console included with Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 is in use:

The config.xml file may be incorrectly edited. This issue should be corrected in the next release of Citrix Presentation Server. Each time you open the window named Manage Server Settings – config.xml mentioned in step 3 and modify the settings, or only if it is opened and OK is selected rather than cancel, the config.xml file needs to be manually edited.

  1. To correct the config.xml file, open the file in WordPad. If there has only been one Program Neighborhood Agent site created, the default location of config.xml should be the following:
    C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Citrix\PNAgent\conf\clientconfigs\config.xml
  1. The following line of the config.xml must be corrected to contain the correct capitalization:
    <Location modifiable="true" forcedefault="false" ReplaceServerLocation="false" RedirectNow="true" RedirectNow="true" ReplaceServerLocation="false">http://test.com</Location>
“RedirectNow” and “ReplaceServerLocation” should both begin with a capital “R”.
  1. Save and close the config.xml file.
