Q: Is persistence information exchanged between NetScalers in a Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) configuration?

A: Yes. As of the 5.2 release, persistence session entries are exchanged between sites. When persistence is enabled, the persistence information is exchanged as the part of metric exchange.

Restrictions:

  • GSLB supports only source IP-based persistence.
  • For GSLB persistence to work across sites, the same persistence ID must be configured on the GSLB virtual IP addresses (VIPs) on all sites. If you have two GSLB VIPs per site, you should have two different persistence IDs.
  • Each GSLB VIP should have a unique persistence ID, but the corresponding VIP at the other site must have the same persistence ID.
