Symptoms
Various Printing issues when pdfFactory 2.x or earlier is installed on Citrix Presentation Server.
Event ID 39 on Event Source “CDM” (client drive mapping) appears in the System event log with the following description:
“Event Log: System
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Cdm
Event Category:
Event ID: 39
Date: xx/xx/xxxx
Description:
The CDM redirector has timed out a request to SessionID x”
While any of the following symptoms can be seen:
• The client default printer is not set as the default inside your ICA session.
• Client printer autocreation is inconsistent.
• Session printer(s) are randomly created or the defaults are not properly set.
• Client printers are sometimes created indirectly.
• Client side printer properties could not be read. Application event 1103 is logged.
Cause
The above problems are caused when pdfFactory 2.x or earlier versions are installed on Citrix Presentation Servers.
Resolution
To resolve the issues, obtain and install pdfFactory Server Edition.
Note: This resolution only applies to systems experiencing the exact symptoms described in this article.
Status
FinePrint has confirmed that their software (pdfFactory 2.x or earlier versions ) can cause Event ID 39 errors on CDM in terminal Services environments.
