How to Return the ClientName When Connecting Through Web Interface 4.0

Summary

This document describes how to return the ClientName when connecting through Web Interface 4.0.

Procedure

Disable workspace control. To do so:
Highlight the site in the Presentation Server console.
Select Other Tasks in the center frame and click Manage Workspace Control.
Clear Enable workspace control.

Web Interface reverts to the legacy behavior of using Domain-username for the client name.

Add the ClientName tag in the default.ica file to return the client name or machine name:

\Inetpub\wwwroot\Citrix\Metaframe\conf\default.ica

[WFClient]
Version=2
ClientName=

The launch.ica file shows ClientName= At application launch, the wfcname is read and ClientName is displayed in the Presentation Server Console.

ClientName= is case-sensitive.

If you are using the ICA override files for high, medium, and low bandwidth, make the change in the appropriate template files (for example, bandwidth_high.ica).

By editing the template files to use the ClientName tag, workspace control will be negatively affected as per CTX103674 – Effects of Removing the Client Name Tag in Web Interface 3.0.
