Client Printers Fail to Autocreate in Presentation Server 4.0

Document ID: CTX106629   /   Created On: May 23, 2005   /   Updated On: Mar 7, 2006
Average Rating: 3

Symptoms

Client printers do not autocreate when connecting to a server running Citrix Presentation Server 4.0. When the user attempts to connect the client printer manually the client network shows only the following:

\\client\<client name>\LPT1:
\\client\<client name>\LPT2:
\\client\<client name>\COM1:

Imported network printers defined through Presentation Server Policies create correctly.

Cause

The Ctx_SmaUser has been removed, or does not have proper permissions to the ica-tcp listener. This user requires minimum permissions to the listener of query information and virtual channels.

If the ica-tcp listener has been manually recreated the Ctx_SmaUser is not added to the listener by default.

Resolution

Assign the correct permissions on the ica-tcp listener to the Ctx_SmaUser. More information on the correct configuration for the Ctx_SmaUser can be found in CTX106393 – Required Permissions and Rights for the Ctx_SmaUser Account.
