Uninstalling Isolated Applications Using Installation Manager May Leave Files Behind in an Isolation Environment After Completion

Document ID: CTX106598   /   Created On: May 17, 2005   /   Updated On: Feb 14, 2008
Average Rating: 2

Symptoms

In an isolation environment, uninstalling isolated applications, using Installation Manager, may not remove all files.

Causes

A component or file is open during uninstall.

The files, usually zero-byte, are deleted file markers created by the isolation environments to track deleted files.

Resolution

Manually remove these files. This can be done when there are no active sessions for applications running in the isolation environment. Launch Windows Explorer or a command window outside the isolation environment and delete the offending files. After uninstallation of an isolated application, it is safe (and a best practice) to delete related application files or artefacts that remain in the isolation environment.
